I am having an issue with the call pilot on a BCM 400.
The Call Pilot shuts down leaving us without mailboxes and auto attendant and we lose ethernet connection.

Checked the physicals to make sure that the unit was not overheating and they look fine.

Any ideas?

What release of software? What's the part number on the BCM?

Call your Vendor and give them that info - it could possibly be a failing base function tray - Nortel will supply the replacement part for free if your system qualifies.

50-1 is also an indication of the MSC problem - not necessarily, but that is the main code that comes up before the voice mail drops. Contact your vendor, they should check the system out for those 2 main component failures (BFT and MSC).

The voice mail going down doesn't have anything to do with the MSC card. The voice mail resides on the hard drive. What has been a common problem with the symptoms you described is the BFT. We have had BCM 1000's to have bad mother boards and hard drives.

Bad MSC cards can cause loss of NT services. See Nortel bulliten 2005006051. 50-1 is an alarm which says the module on bus 1 has been disconnected - bus 1 is the MSC.

Could be both issues at the same time - seen it before.
