I am about to replace my hard drive, for the third time, because I keep getting the flashing lights syndrome.

If I reboot, the system usually comes up OK and I can get back into the system until the system goes nuts again.

It is a new BCM - Installed in April 2006.

My supplier and phone guru think it is a software issue, thus the third hard drive.

My question is which patches should I install once I get the drive initialized. The drive comes through my supplier who got it from Nortel. I am not sure what the current revision is on the Drive.

We would patch the current drive, but when I try to install any new patches, I get a message that the F: drive is full.

Thanks,

Jim

I don't care how old you think it is, it may have been sitting on a vendors shelf for 2 years. Pull the BFT out and look at the Cap's, if they are green you need a new BFT. If there blue, then you have another issiue.

If BFT is ok, could have a bad MSC. There was an open bulletin regarding the MSC.

OK skippy, it's apparent you don't care for the BCM judging by your last few posts in the last few topics. We've got the hint.

BIG QUESTION FOR YOU JCARLI!

Is your BCM on the public network. i.e. Does your BCM have a public IP address and is connected to the internet?

If so, I have found that even with patches installed and the firewall turned on, I am still losing services. Meaning I can't get into the BCM without turning it off and back on again. As soon as I physically unplug the WAN connection everything is stable again.

Well, the supplier gave me a list of patches, although he could not say for sure which ones to apply.

So, we started with roll up 2 and went from there.

We ran out of space before installing all of the patches he recommended.

So I have to ask - What's with that. Of course what do you expect when the whole web interface and voicemail system is running on an Apache server on a Windows NT 4.0 box.

As for the public network. No, it is behind my ASA/Pix. My IP phones are only available via my cisco VPN. Some day when I get ambitious, I will try turning on the firewall and configure the WAN connector and next hop router(as they call it). However, if that is causing problems, I will keep things the way they are.

So, for now I am up and stable - no more flashing lights for the last 6 days.

Sorry to bring bad news, but there is a patch out (or coming out soon) that fixes the issue with the F: drive being full... :(

Maybe worth a shot to fire up the BCM monitor and see how much memory is being used. If you're using the firewall/NAT/web cache part of the system, you could be running out of memory.
