Hi there;

I have just installed a new hard drive to my bcm 3.7. Went through the universal profile and cannot connect to the unit now.
I have tried both a crossover cable & straight to no avail.
I can access v/m features but cannot connect to the bcm to do any programming.

Any suggesstions?

Thank you.

What do you mean "initialize"?

We did a universal profile.

B4 the HD can be used after installation, u have to log in via the serial port and initialize the HD by choosing the option in the menu. The manual explains what it required when replacing a HD.

Thanks Dash;
but I'm connected to the bcm through the serial port, I still cannot get connected through the rj45 to do any programming (or see the manual), still got ip add of 0.0.0.0 & tried to reset date to before jan 1/08.

N.F.G.

How would I initialize the hard drive, I don't see that option in the menu.

Wally

Profile Initilization is done from the COM PORT of the BCM. Select OPTION 1, then whichever option you require after that.

Takes about 45-60 minutes.

This is for UK version but general procedure should be the same

1. Open Hyper terminal session on your PC

IN CONNECTION DESCRIPTION NAME IT BCM AND PICK AN ICON
IN PHONE NUMBER CHECK CONNECT USING IS DIRECT TO COM 1
IN COM 1 PROPERTIES CHECK PORT SETTINGS
BITS PER SECOND 9600
DATA BITS 8
PARITY NONE
STOP BITS 1
FLOW CONTROL HARDWARE

2. If the BCM is ready you will then be prompted to log in.

user name: ee_admin
domain: (leave blank just press return)
password: XXXXXXXXXX depending on HDD

3. You will then be presented with a menu, press1 to select “Platform
Initialisation Menu”.

From the “Platform Initialisation Menu” choose option 1 - “Initialise Menu”

From the Initialise Menu” choose option 1 - “Initialise Universal Profile” and the wait a short time for the next menu to appear

From the “MSC Initialisation Menu” choose option 3 – depending on HDD version this maybe “E1 MSC LOAD” for 3.01 and 3.5 and “UK MSC E1” for 3.6
Again depending on the HDD version the leds on BCM will flash in a particular way. For 3.01 and 3.5 all Leds will flash green and for 3.6 you will see the Power flash red then the Temperature followed by the Fan and other leds will be green or out.

During this stage the BCM will upload the necessary files and core and will do various reboots, when you have all leds showing steady green it has completed. The whole process should be completed within 30-40 minutes.

Thanks snowman;
However, here's my trouble.
1)we HAD a 3.5 bcm 400. V/M went dead (no recordings/no grtgs/no m/bxs), but we had line access (could make calls)

2) got a new 3.7 hard drive, installed, & DID a universal profile

3) we can do f 980/f981 get "log:", looks right, but when you try to enter an extension it doesn't work. (no m/bxs, hard drive not up 100%)

4) I cannot get into the unified manager w/crossover or straight cable. My bcm shows

For whatever reason it says "LAN Empty".

When I do ipconfig in "command line" from the main screen I get

Am I missing something (other than an I.P. address) ?

This procedure take out a lot of time, when this procedure succeded you can see the leds on the left side of the BCM becoming solid green.
When you have that situation, you can gain access at your BCM via the default ip address [lan1=10.10.10.1] [lan2=10.10.11.1]
Be aware that this procedure ERASE all VM configuration and sometimes all the phone programming.
Finger crossed ;)

Did you re-image this drive yourself & if so did you roll the date back to before Mid January of 2008 before you re-imaged it?

If you have used the BIT for the 3.7 be aware that there is a known issue, apache crashes due a certification error, before starting the core upload procedure backup the cert folder on the bcm under apache directory, and replace it when the system finished the core upload.
Bye

I did not reimage this h/d myself.
Since doing this I have been made aware of this Apache patch.
I set the date to jan 2 2006 through hyperterminal (option 7 execute a command) - I was told this would skirt around using this patch

Can I install the patch through hyperterminal?

However, I am still getting all lights on f 980/981 but no connection through nic.
AND all i.p. info @ 0.0.0.0

Set the date to 1/1/08 and run the Initialize Universal Profile again.
This will workaround the SSL issue.
After the Init completes, you should be able to log in with your crossover cable.

You can also choose 2 from the Main Console menu, and the q for the quick start menu. You can configure an IP address here.
