BCM 400- 3.6 to 4.0 Upgrade

I have a 3.6 to 4.0 upgrade over the weekend, I have done many BCM upgrades and Patches in the past, Is there any issues that I should be aware of?

1 more question is can we now use Vista or is it still XP to do direct connect upgrades.?. my laptop got stolen yesterday from a job-site so im down to my non-work laptop, for now.

Make sure that you run the BCM 4.0 system pre-check & correct any issues that fail the pre-check. Also check to make sure that your Base Function Tray does not have green capacitors. I always make sure that I have a spare drive with me that is formatted to the old 3.6. That way if you have any trouble you can always restore the customers old data to 3.6 & try again.

-but what do you mean by "pre-check"?, do you mean the pre-check list or is there software now for upgrades other than the software and keycode? I'm walking into this job kinda blind, it's not one of my regular customers.

--Unfortunetly I don't have the luxury of a spare HD on this job like I have in the past, BUT YOU'RE RIGHT, It's better to be safe than sorry... I learned that with the 3.5-3.6 BS upgrade locking up @ 77% thing LOL.

---What color should the capacitors be? and If they are Green then "don't attempt to upgrade the software without a hardware upgrade 1st" - is that what your saying?

The caps are dark blue and there is a pre check you run on the BCM before upgrades and is avaliable on the Nortel site for down load.

And deleting the CDR files in the "call detail recording" folder in the D drive makes it quicker to backup and upgrade..
