We currently have 3 BCMs in operation. One is on 3.7 and the others are on 3.6. We have considered upgrading the 3.6 to 3.7 but I was wondering if at this point it might make more sense to upgrade all to 4.0.
Your post about the upgrade path scares me...what about all those units that have been upgraded from release X.X through 1 or more releases to 3.7? Is there a different upgrade path for those units or are those proactive customers who like to stay current S.O.L?
If you are at 3.7 and stable you will be fine. I was answering the question about being able to upgrade from 3.6 (you can).
Sorry if I was unclear.
Maybe I am paranoid but I always keep a fresh HD, all patches to match the existing system, and the existing DB ready to restore if EVERYTHING goes wrong.
Sorry if I seem a little n00bish here....just want to be clear.
If you are upgraded to 3.7 already and all is (reasonably) well, then the upgrade to 4.0 is fine.
If you are upgrading from an earlier release (3.0.1) for example, go to 3.6 (not 3.7) before going to 4.0.
That correct?
Also, I subscribe to your HD/patches/backup methodology...had too many "simple" upgrades go KERBLOOEY (nice sound effect, eh?) for no apparent reason too.
