I have a BCM 3.7 and I need to delete the CDR records as my pre-check has failed because of too many records and also not enough space on the E:DRIVE.

Here is a copy of a document that details how to delete the CDR files.

BCM 4.0: Upgrade gives error "existing call detail recording
storage exceeds 200 MB"
Problem Description
When upgrading BCM 3.6 or BCM 3.7 to BCM Version 4.0 upgrade wizard gives error:"existing call detail
recording storage exceeds 200MB".
The combination of factory default configuration for CDR defaults to Status "Up", Startup on reboot defaults
to Enabled-Automatic, and the CDR Disk Space Limit defaults to 400MB can create this issue even when the
user is not utilizing CDR records for call accounting purposes.
Problem Resolution
The recording files can be deleted if not in use as follows via telnet or the serial port on command line. If CDR is
set to "Up" when performing this procedure, the "Active" clip file will give an error that it is in use but will not
affect the ability to delete the older CDR files (see example below):

As for the E drive, someone probably did a backup to the BCM at one time. Since this is just a temp directory, just navigate to it and delete all the files on it too.

Thanks telcodog -- I will post another response when I have the time to go and delete these files.

Another way that I used was to just use ftp://(IP Address)
This took me straight to the location of all of the *.zip files as listed above.

I then copied the lot (well over a gig to a folder on my pc, before deleting the lot. Then I ran the pre check again and it passed.

The zip files can be extracted and you can view the call logging after renaming the record file to e.g. *.txt.

Best of luck!.

I attempted to go in the system (CDR folder)as described above and it came back with ACCESS DENIED. I then was able to map a drive to the BCM D: and when I went on the folder it showed me it was empty. I then and mapped the E:DRIVE and removed the files under backup and placed them in a folder on my desktop. After I completed all this I went to run the Pre - check Tool and received this error: FTP SERVER CANNOT BE STARTED ON BCM. Has anyone seen this error and what are my options so I can get the 4.0 Pre Check to Pass so I get upgrade my BCM. Thanks

First of all follow Telcodog's instructions either via a Telnet connection or by a serial connection using 9600 8 1 none etc. A straight 9 way RS232 cable will be required.

If using Telnet, check that the service has been enabled as it's normally disabled. You could also check the ftp connection again?.

What I found was that I had almost 2 Gigs worth of zip files.
One or 2 files were created every day.
I use procomm plus 4.8 and I created a source file that contained a screen shot of all of the zip files as a capture file only showed the first screen for reasons that I don't yet know?.

Anyway it took me over an hour to delete the zip files. Let us know if you require any more help.

I just did an upgrade today and I did not even ran a precheck but I encountered that cdr error. All I did is reduce the cdr file size from default 400MB to say 40MB, comit and clip and upgrade went through fine.

The "ACCESS DENIED" you get is because you didn't use the main account,ee_admin or nnadmin depending of your bcm version.

That's correct, you must use the ee_admin account to log in from. Otherwise, you will need Nortel to do it for you.

I have attempted to Log in with the ee_admin password and still it came back as access denied. Now when I try to log into the BCM I am now receiving error -- DCOM server is not ready. Thoughts!!! I have never seen this before. Thanks

I ran a Procomm Plus script to remove all of my customers CDR records. Here is the script below, if anyone wants to try it out?.

; Out old BCM 3.x CDR Files prior to upgrade to 4.0

; NOTE!
; The " ; " denotes that the data on the program file line is ignored,
; when the script is run.
; This program file should remain unaltered & only copies made from it for whatever
; use is required. P.S. I suggest that you make it a "READ ONLY" file. & store it on
; your P.C's HARD DRIVE.

; An example of the source BCM 3.x CDR records are listed below, which should be saved as a single text file.

I was able to Log into the system now -- thanks. I still have the issue of when I try to load a patch or run the pre-check it comes back and tells me that it cannot start the FTP Server. I see that once the system does come back up all the lights on the front of the system Blink. I can log into the BCM and Voice Mail. Once again I have not had this issue before. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. I know that this customer has had the Mother Board and the MSC Card replaced. The hard Drive has not been replaced which I am thinking may be the problem but before I totally go down this road I wanted to confirm.
