Hi there !

I ve got a BCM 3.6 and will install a 3rd Party Software for CDR-Data. So there are 2 Settings on the BCM. "pull" or "push" transfer. I tried to get the CDR-Data with the 3rd Party Software as FTP-Client. So i set up the BCM for "pull" and created a CDR-User. But the 3rd Party Software didnt got access to the BCM. So doesnt the BCM work as FTP-Server? Does i have to do more settings for "pull" transfer? I also tried the CDR Client Wrapper but that tool also didnt work :O(

Anybody knows how that CDR-Stuff work?

Hope uou haven't invested to much in your currect smdr application.
You should try Visual Call Manager plus the optional Call Auditor Package or Call Link with the Auditor package.
It uses one LAN CTE license on the BCM and an external server.
They offer trial ware.

I have set up the BCM with PUSH enabled and an inexpensive FTP server software. The whole thin has been running as a test for a few months and seems to work well. The SMDR client should reside on your server and you should have no problem if the FTP server is inside the same firewall as your BCM.

thx aragon & NARSBARS !

I will try that Visual Call Manager but the link didnt work. its --> Anyways its to late for that installation cause we bought the 3rd level software already. I will use the PUSH format and ftpserver for transfering the CDR files.
I have also heard u can use BCM as FTP-Server (PULL-transfer). So anybody knows how to start that FTP-Server? All the Patches get on a BCM in that Style...

Install Bulletproof FTP* on another machine and set the BCM to push to that IP Address, BP will see the file (usually at midnight and store to a file called record*.* ).

* 3M make a FTP server thats free and works well.

Set your CDR to file collect (If your program supports that) and collect the file created by Bulletproof FTP.

Couple of problems I have had is :
1) CDR program will only collect a filename ie smdr.txt NOT a range of files
2) CDR is daily once.

Regards & Good luck

thx tabsnz !

I did use Bulletproof FTP Server and it works well.

All the Files get collected and customer is happy now....

But i also got BCM FTP Server to run.... but the BCM didnt created CDR-files (if set to "pull") also there was a folder called "ftpcdr" on BCM Side... isnt that silly? I could connect to bcm ftp but there havent been any CDR-Files...unless u change to "push" service......

Hello,

Now we are working on adding support for the full range of the Nortel products on PbxTools PhoneJournal. If you are willing to help us I'll give one fully lincense.

I need some information about BCM and safe ways of getting data in realtime. Until now i've tested a BCM50 with CDRPullClient/LiveClient but it seamns that they are connecting to the pbx using a propretary protocol and possible an encrypted one.

Currently we don't have access to developer documentation - Nortel seams to be one of the most "closed" companies. As a comparision Avaya let full access on the web and have a free open developer program and nortel require you to pay thousands of $/year for a developer program whre you don't know what you get :(

So we have to use guerilla like tactics :) You can download our application from - it's working with over 100 models.
