'Morning Gang!
Ok, so this is not exactly a BCM question... well, maybe. I have a BCM200 with a GATM8 and DSM32. DN's are T7316 sets. Am I right that the T7316 will only allow 6 line buttons, or am I configuring something wrong? If it will only show 6, then tips/ideas/suggestions about how to configure would be appreciated. Setup will have 6-8 POTS along with 24 DN's. DN's are assigned to 5 hunt groups; 4 CFNA to the 5th which CFNA to a DN VM. AA and CCR is in use. At present there are only 4 POTS but the request is to move to 8...

you should be able to add all 8 lines to the t7316 phones, make sure you know the line numbers.

hey jsaad,
I see that lines will not overwrite buttons that are already programmed, and the BCM has every button configured out of the box. I will try to delete and reassign the lines. I will let you know!
Andy

lines do over-write starting from btn #1
7316 = 7310 (10 fully programmable btns)
7316e = 7316e (16 ...)

on a 7316/ 7310 ...2 I/C, HF ...that leaves for 7 buttons for lines

hey senk1s,
Thanks for the info! I read that the lines ARE supposed to overwrite buttons in our old docs but our brandy-new BCM 200 docs (4.0) says they do not. aaarrrrrrrggg...
Like more confusion is needed when installing a new phone system! :)
Any suggestions regarding lime pools? use/don't use or whatever? I'm right at the programming side of this new system and welcome the insight of the Gurus here to guide me along...
Andy

I guess its the brandy ... Scotch works best on a BCM :)

where did you read this - what happens when you actually program the lines on an extension? how are you programming - using a phone or EM?

I'm getting out the Vodka!!
From the BCM 4.0 programming manual,pg 105:
• In addition to lines, buttons have other uses, for example, intercom or handsfree operation.
Line programming does not overwrite assigned buttons.

But on pg 122:
• In addition to lines, buttons have other uses, for example, intercom or handsfree operation.
Line programming does not overwrite assigned Intercom, Answer DN, Handsfree, or Hunt
group buttons.

AAAGGGHH!!!!

As for my setup, We have 4 lines that are currently in use, and two lines that are on separate fax machines. We have unified msging and fax capabilities in the new BCM, and are planning on putting all 6 lines into the GATM8, then assigning lines for inbound fax to certain DN's. Once all of this is sorted out, there will probably be two more lines added to the mix for a total of 8. Should I be looking at line pools now or not at all?
Andy

I prefer using line pools for anything other than a dedicated line. Most people complain about dialing 9 when they used to press a line button. My answer is what is the difference between pressing a line button or pressing 9?

If they still complain, put the lines in a pool anyway and have it dial the access code (9) for them and label it "outside line".

Regardless of what the docs say, if you programm a line appearance on a button, it will not serve any other function. If you remove the line, it will revert to the default out of the box function unless you choose another feature for it.

Put all six lines on the GATM 8 if you want. Put the 2 fax lines on ports 7 and 8 and do not put them into the pool. Assign them as ring only on the ATA that will connect to the fax machine and prime them to the same DN on the ATA. Put the other four lines into the pool and provide the pool with the access code. If you then add 2 more lines, connect them to ports 5 and 6, add them to the pool and you're done.
