After replacing the MSC card on the BCM 1000. What steps are needed before I reload my keycodes & program the system ? Do I just need to run the universal profile ?
There is a laundry list of steps to follow to replace the MSC card. Should have gotten the instructions with the new card. Be sure to follow those to a "T".
If you don't care about keeping any programming, then yes - run a universal profile, regenerate/reapply keycodes, reprogram.
Also, the system needs to be at release 3.0 or higher to support the universal profile or to have a "Nortel Supported" field replacable MSC.
System ID is based on the MCS card, so if you change the MSC, then you need to get the Keycodes regenerated. You don't need to buy new Keycodes, you just need to have them regenerated for the new MCS ID.
If you get the keycode regenerated you will need to have access to the KRS and Nortel will expect the old MSC card back within 60 days or they will bill you for the keycodes regenerated.
in regards to your question regarding the necessary steps after replacing the MSC you will need to take the same steps as if you were replacing an MSC on a 200 or 400 system. In the BCM 1000 no steps were ever written as to how to swap out an MSC because there was no FRU for that part. It became available with the 200 and 400 systems. Just follow the steps for those systems and you will be fine.
