We are going to upgrade a BCM 1000 2.5 fp1 mr1 with Redundant Hard Drives to 4.0. We've never did this before and we don't know if you need 2 new programmed hard drives or 1 programmed hd and one blank hd. Any help and tips would be appreciated.

I don't think u can go from 2.5 to 4.0 without having to replace the HD. I believe the 2.5 HD is smaller than the 3.x and 4.0 HDs. This means u'll lose your programming. U'll also have to get your current key codes converted to the new 4.0 format.

You need 1 programmed and 1 blank HDD.
You'll also need an upgrade keycode to convert your current keycodes to the 4.0 format.

You may want to consider a migration to a 400 platform as the 1000 is MD.

Thanks for the help. My other question is, do you put the slave drive in prior to configuring the system through putty or after the upgrade and let the slave load the info from the master.

Put Slave in after config and let it mirror.
