I just today tried changing a HDU3 "wow" for a HDU6 on a BC7 site. But when command IOSII was sent the response was NO DEVICE CONNECTED. I had the SIPOS correct on the HDU and in the command but no joy at all. Does anyone know if because this is an old BC level that the HDU6 isn't compatable.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

HDU6 should work fine with BC7.
If you still have the problem:
- Check that the HDU is switched ON
- Check carefully that the SCSI-cable from IPU to HDU is properly connected
- Check the terminator plugs in the unused connectors
- Check again the hardware address of the HDU
- Check again the IOSII command and parameters
- Restart the IPU
- Make a hardware reset of the IPU (remove and back in) and try again

If nothing helps, your HDU6 is likely to be faulty

Hi Ficri,

Thanks for responding. Well I have actually changed the drive for another HDU3 because the original fault is both REL's NOT VALID and when trying to back up I get an error message saying:

SIGNAL TIMEOUT
FAILED IN LIM 3 DEMB.P

So I changed the drive and it is still doing the same. I have restarted the IPU and reseated it also but with no luck.

Any ideas why I am getting this SIGNAL TIMEOUT?

Many thanks

John

Could you initiate the other HDU3 without any problems?
Did you create subfilesystems with FICRI on the HDU3?

Yeah no problems with the HDU3. I FICRI'd structure's SYSSUBFS11 & SYSSUBFS21 & TMFS. Started the DUSYI and it set off going fine, but when we get to DEMB all stops with the error message.

Looks like its a software corruption in LIM 3 on DEMB.

This sounds like a local dumping issue in lim3 as opposed to corruption in DEMB.
I Think you will need to check out your lost signals for when the dump fails for clues.
I have had this problem and looking back at my notes, i had problems with DRR(controls local dumping).
You may need to give DRR a 'kick'in lim 3 where DEMB resides as the signal time out you are getting each time is at the same point, as this is probably the first unit to be dumped from lim3.

good luck!
