Hey all,

I purchased some Baystack 350s and 450s on Ebay and now that I'm configuring them I've run into a bit of a snag. I'm trying to log in through the console port, but after the login name and password the switches are looking for a RADIUS server. I've setup a Win2k server as a RADIUS server, and I did a network sniff to see where the RADIUS server is (its IP address) so I could set my Win2k server to the same address, but no matter what I do I get a "RADIUS server not responding" error. I've tried using NetICs as a login and password but that's not accepted. I've tried using CTRL-C during the boot diagnostics on the switches to try to get into a single prompt where I can do one entry for NetICs but no joy. In my sniffs I see that Netics (yeah, just one cap) is listed as a part of the decoded MAC address but THAT doesn't work either. Any suggestions on how I can get to a prompt to change the setup of these switches without being able to access the correct RADIUS server?????

Thanks,

Joe

Hi!

Do you have RRA installed on the Win2k server? Do you have configured the switches IPs as acceptable clients on the server?
Also check the communications port that you have configured in the radius server and also in the switch. Normally, it is port 1645.
Additionally check if the secret is equal on the server and switches.

Hope this helps.
Cheers

Joe,

You can try to flash the current config by interrupting the bootsequence. Just connect to the console port and see which button to push to interrupt (I believe it was the Esc button). After that, follow the instructions listed on your screen.

Regards.
