Hi,

I got Nortel Baystack 425-48T, I cannot access to the switch via telnet and also via Console, but all the traffic is still working fine, has anyone experience the same problem? I need to reset the switch but I'm afraid this is the firmware issue and will not boot perfectly.

anyone can help? Please advise.

Hi,

Try the following console settings:

COM1
baud 9600
data bits 8
Parity none
stop bits 1
select xon/off

Also hit ctrl+y to activate the Baystack menu.

Goodluck!

Hi Jeroel,

I've try those console setting, but still can not connect to the console, can I access to BS425-48T by using JDM via SNMP? what version of JDM can manage BS425-48T?
I will try to use SNMP to access my switch.

looking for someoene who has access to download JDM :)

Best Regards,
Vincent

If going the console route, make sure you are using a straight through cable and not a null modem.

I thought JDM was a 'free' download available to everyone.

JDM is only a 'free' download if you already have a contract of any sort of any of the Baystack switches. If you do, go here to download JDM.
JDM will indeed manage the 425 switch...the minimum version of JDM needed will depend on what version of software you are running on your 425.
The good news is that the latest version of JDM will manage any version of a 425 or other Baystack switch.
The latest version of JDM is 6.0.3. It will, of course, require that your community strings are set as default, and that you know and can reach the IP addy.

I would try the console again if it were me...vincesl, be sure you are using a straight through cable (not null modem). Have you also tried to reboot while connected to the console? This sometimes does the trick.

I hope this info is helpful.

Dears,

Thanks for the information, I already got the JDM from local vendor here and I can do manage my switch again, but unfourtunately I can not reboot the switch at that time.
Now I can access to the console and also telnet again after I do reboot the switch on the maintenance period.

Thanks to you all,
Vincent
