I've used a few articles I found here to resolve my connection problems to the 350T terminal, but I'm having a different problem now.

I'm trying to set the ip address, and I must have some terminal emulation settings wrong, because if I try to enter an ip address, I get invalid ip address every time. If I try to enter a subnet mask, I can type in "255.255.255.", and that's it. It won't let me type the 0. Any hints from anybody?

I'm currently using N-8-1, Hardware Flow Control (tried all), HyperTerminal Auto-Detect terminal emulation (tried ansi, ansiw, vt100). I'm stuck!

Thanks for your help,
Matt

Have you checked your pin outs for the cable you using. If you look on the Nortel website you will find the pin outs.

Are you trying to set a stack or a single switch ?
Try 9600,8,N,1,X on/off,VT100,terminal keys.
If you have successfully logged on and navigated to the ip menu, sounds like your cable is ok.

Hi

Can you set other menu items? As Rick says, if you get as far as you do, your cable and hyperterminal settings settings look OK.

Try defaulting the config first. It may be a (firmware related) issue of a conflict between the address you are trying to set and the mask you want to use, or something daft like that.

Otherwise, to check if it is the buffer you type into overflowing use an address like 1.1.1.1 and a 255.0.0.0 mask to minimise the characters you use, and to be sure the address and mask match.

I dont know if you were having the same problem that I was having.. but if when you type in your IP addresses they only come up 1 number at a time.. and you cant type in the whole IP addy you want..

the problem is your hyperterminal... try Hyperternimal private edition

..worked for me
