Without calling Nortel (I don't have a service contract), how can I reset the password and/or configuration for a Baystack 302F Switch? I bought it off of someone on ebay and it was already used, but now by him. I can't figure out the password. I only have Read Only rights. Please help.

Robert

Think you need to call Nortel, I lost it on Baystack 450, then i neede to give them the mac address, but in 470 you can stop it in the boot sec..

I am not going to pay $50 an hour to have someone tell me to press something or give them a number. There has got to be another way.

Robert

Have you tried the console port ?

Yes, thats what I need the password for. I can only look at things in read-only mode. I need the password to login, clear password, load defaults, etc. Can anyone help?

Robert

stupid question.. have you tried the password "private" or "public

Yes I have. Its not a default configuration right now. The switch was used by some other company a little while back and I bought it on Ebay and the seller doesn't have a clue to what it is because it wasn't actually his switch. I need some way of resetting the password, or configuration. I have tried all of the default passwords to get in, with not success.

Robert

In read-only can you see if the password for telnet is turned on? Maybe only the console has a password.

I haven't seen anything on that one. I can look at menus, but only in read only mode. Is there a way to reset the switch to default configuration?
