Dell 2400,

Are using these servers with NT4 and FAST allows us to recondition the batteries when necessary.

However, we also have these servers with Netware which don't have the FAST software. Is there any way to recondition the battery from BIOS or similar? Or can I get software to do it from Netware?

Cheers
Neil.

I think tyhe best thing to do would eb contact Dell Tech support> It will probably be free of chare (depending the age of your server and the warrant cover). They are usually pretty quick and helpfull with things like this and will probably help you quite quickly.

We also have Dell-/NetWare servers . We use FASTCLI.NLM for these kinds of battery reconditioning jobs on our NW5.1 servers.

Another option, If you have any of the DOSA (Dell Openmanage Server Assistant)cd, version 6.7 or up, you can boot the server with it and choose System Tools, then Array Manager, then expand the Array tree till you find the raid controller, right click on it and choose recondition. **Warning while the battery is reconditioning the server could run slower since the cache will be taken offline. For the Fast CLI this can be installed without rebooting the server. But your driver, firmware, and CLI version must all match or else you will not be able to open the controller.
