Is there a way to import a large number of image files, like using data merge but .jpgs instead of text? I am creating a large directory of image files, and would like to automate the process, rather than use File -> Place. Any suggestions?

Thanks alot,
Ian

Hi, iedwards88,

There's no batch method other than data-marge.

For Printing, TIFFs are preferable to JPGs.

Can I ask what your end product is? Print, PDF, Web?

It will only allow me to choose .txt and .csv files in the data-merge manager. So I guess that means no image files.

The end product is print. I'm handing the project off to someone else, so I'm not what kind of printer is being used.

Is there another application that you know of that I could do batch importing of image files, such as inDesign?

That's correct but the value/datafield can be the location of an image file.

see this tutorial - Set up records for a smooth merger - from the Adobe PageMaker Tutorials

Yes, InDesign with the PageMaker Plug-in Package will do it, but it essentially the same as PM's datamerge.
