Basics of setting up a WAN

Just to clarify, are you looking to set up a LAN that is bridged to a WAN or you actually want to set up a WAN. Because setting up a WAN is essentially like setting up the internet.

Well what we have is five branches which each have there own lan and we want to connect them all together, we also want to use the same namespace, eg: dgihereford.co.uk, dgitelford.co.uk, (namespace being the .co.uk)

Any help or sujestions of the best wat of doing this would be grateful, thanx Matthew Hankins

You could setup a vpn to each of the sites. Even though traffic is moving through the internet encrypted, the servers won't know the difference, they could be setup to think they are all on a lan.

there will be a larger move ment of data between the servers at about 3am about 200mb's. how do i set up a vpn so they all thing they are on 1 single lan

If you are familiar with W2K Server, DC's, DNS, AD and VPN's... Then you may want to reference a good W2K server book to get you up and running. If you are not completely comfortable with the formerly mentioned concepts than you may want to research them a little bit. This is a somewhat complex task that requires a thorough understanding of various networking concepts and it would be difficult to walk you through step by step in this forum... although if you encounter the odd hiccup along the way... Let us know.

does anyone know the required settings that allow a mac to access a win2k server via remote access?
remote access is working ok and other xp clients can connect to the server ok and apple talk is active though when a mac tries to connect the server disconects the line and logs a error saying the remote computer does not support the required data encryption type i have tried to alter various authentication meathords with no success please help??
