Basic setup of SV8100

Hi Tek-tips,

I have a NEC SV8100 phone system lying around that I've been trying to setup periodically over some time, I keep coming back to it to try and set it up but keep giving up. I don't have a lot of telecommunications experience though I've worked with quite a few VOIP systems, nothing like this.

I just want it to very basically, if someone calls the phone number (lets say 02930......) it will make a single (or all of the connected phones) ring and can receive and make calls. I have 2 phones plugged in and can call them internally by ringing their extensions and such. Just can't do anything with the outside world. Just a little overwhelmed with all the new terminology of these telecommunication systems

A defaulted system loads a resident program which gives you what you are looking for.

To default the system, power off, press and hold the load button, power up count to 10 then release the load button. It takes areound 4 minutes.

I just gave it a reset (though I don't think much has been messed around on since last reset). When the phone line is plugged into 'CO Trunk Loop Start' interface, and I call the phone number, it rings the phones and comes up with caller ID and everything (so I assume that's where the phone line should be plugged in?). However, when I try to pick up the phone on the handset it just beeps at me and comes up with "ERROR!!".

A system reset does not load in the defaults. See my previous post for the procedure to DEFAULT the system which loads in a resident program.
It sounds like the phones do not have CO line appearances. Go to MB 15-07 to manually program in CO line appearances.
