Package is set to run at the current date & time and has been processed by the CAP, but clients are not recieving the package. Its just a basic software install. When I go to Control Panel\Advertised Programs I get an error which says " Failed to connect to the Advertised Programs Server". I had created a similar package 3 days ago which did run (poorly) but ran. What I mean by poorly is that I thought it would give the user a message right away to run the program but it didnt. It took too long or just didnt run on some clients. This time around it has been 2 hours since I advertised the package and nothing has happened. Am I being impatient? The package was set to high priority! HELP!!![sadeyes]

First I would checkt the time !
Time settings are very critical in SMS so be sure to have the same time everywhere....

Hope this helps,
Chris

Hello and Thanks! for your reply.

I work for a company that has a premier support account with MS and after a few days of trying different things with no results we decided to submit a support request. What ended up being the issue was that SMS Client Services service was stopped on most clients and the account that has rights to re-start the service, which is the SMSCliSvcAcct& account, was not part of the local admins group which was removed by our GPO's (group policy). It was also removed from 4 critical local security groups which were *replace a process level token, *act as part of the OS, *logon as a service, and *shutdown the system (found in Admin Tools). After redesigning our GPO we were able to then repopulate the required areas with proper rights and now I am able to see the Advertised Programs and Advertised Programs Monitor. Our clients are also now recieving the packages.

I saw a few old threads that had similar issues. Hopefully this helps them also.[2thumbsup]
