OK, I know I am going to get a hard time for asking this question!
I think you IPO purists will say I should not use either, but can you tell me the actual difference between the 2 versions. I read the Avaya brochure for both & they are identical word for word.
The reason I ask is that there are 2 different SD cards for the two versions, so should I bother stocking both?

Thanks!

I really have no clue at all what the difference is and that is because i never ever will install one of both.
Luckily my boss agrees with me so i won't be fired for it :)

When i read the Ga tech bulletin for 7.0 then the new features are for quick, nortel and partner mode are the same.
So it looks like they use 3 names for one system.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

the Partner uses a different SD card, other than that I would not know a difference.
Junk, trash, garbage all the same to me with 3 different words [tongue]

Give a tech a solution and he will be back tomorrow to ask you the next question, teach a tech how to read the manual and he will be able to solve the problems for a life time.

They are the same except the partner version uses ETR modules to power Partner 18D's/3920's. Basic version cannot support ETR card. They both program the same though and have the same features/functionality.

All exactly the same. Its just marketing. Partner Version in the US to supposedly replace the PARTNER product that was big there, Norstar Version in the middle-east to replace the NORSTAR product that was sold big there and Basic Edition anywhere else. Reality, all the same code.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Not sure Telcomboy is right or wrong, If you create an offline configuration from Manager the pull-down box has the ETR & TCM modules as options for both the Basic and Partner mode. It is never hard to get the absolute answer from Avaya. LOL

47 years in the business and counting.

I said that because I had a client with an ETR card in it and it was originally sent as basic. The card didn't work. I changed it to Partner mode and the card started working. That may be different now, maybe a fix in the release. It is very muddy waters figuring out what the difference truly is if there is any.

ETR cards DO work in Basic mode. Infact that is the only module you can use to make a line ring on a analog device.
