Yes, I try to avoid basic mode at all costs. However we have a couple out there--one of which the customer purchased themselves and then brought us in. Anyway it is currently on 9.0.12. Over the last year it has repeatedly added either an extension 1 or extension 10 to the system that I can't delete (and system status doesn't even see) and this prevents people from dialing 100, 101, 102 etc (which are the real extensions).

I can restore the system by sending an old config or rebuilding and since the system has also locked up a few times we had to replace all hardware and most recently the SD card as well.

There is a possibility that the battery backup is causing a power fluctuation leading to corruption and I will move the system to other power if available. However now I'm also seeing this in SS quite a bit:
12/12/2017 10:23:56 AM 1 Logon failed due to incorrect userId/password.
Application: VoIP Extension
Number: 5701

An attack maybe or something the system is making up?

I can't even find a place to allow VOIP extensions in the config and I'm pretty sure everything is turned off in security. All extensions are digital.

Anyhow, those of you that have used Basic mode have you seen anything like this?

Basic Edition simply doesn't support IP extensions of any kind. Most likely some network scanner has seen it as a IP Office and is trying to see if its hackable - which begs the question 'how open is its IP address?'.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Disable auto create extension. I hope can help.

Thanks. Yes I am having our network team examine the firewall for anything that will allow SIP. They did turn off any indirect signalling so that may be the issue. I would love to turn off auto create extension--I could be missing it but I don't see that anywhere in basic mode (I wonder if it is automatic). I'll have to go through the docs though and be sure.

There is no Auto Create in Basic Edition so you can ignore that.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

do everyone a favour (especially yourself) & upgrade them to Essential edition, you have probably already spent more than the licence costs trying to debug this issue

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

They actually use the features in basic mode but yes we'll upgrade them if we have to to get it working.

i did not think that muppet basic mode had any features (at least none that did not work better in std mode)

I don't recall everything they needed at the time they got installed but our sales thought the features looked good. They know not to do it now. But it was convenient for the type of line appearances and auto line grab they wanted (which I can't do in the same way on Essential mode), and they get 2 free SIP licenses (!).

I think they were also used to doing some of the partner code stuff, etc to get into the phones but now sure how much they use that now...

Nothing bad reported yet since hopefully taking care of that IP extension login the system was detecting.

:)
