IP Office V2 R9.1. Super simple config. Customer wants all phones to ring and if not answered hit an auto attendant. The auto attendant will play a message then dump them in a general VM (with basic edition if I remember correctly the caller will have to press 0 to get the VM). The customer asked if all the VM light on all phones can light up when a VM is left in the general mailbox. There's no way to do this with basic edition correct? I know how to do it in standard mode, but just wanted to verify that there's no way to do it in basic edition before I tell the customer. Thanks in advance for the help.

if you are familiar with Std mode (& don't hate your customer) then don't even think about using Muppet mode.

To be absolutely honest I do'nt know whether it is doable in Muppet mode or not - because I refuse to allow our sales team to even think about selling it.

No you can not do that in basic mode you can't even have group voicemail in basic mode let alone visual voicemail access to a group voicemail. If the auto attendant hits maximum inactivity it rings first extension in system (can not be changed) so to go to a specific extension you would need them to hit a button. Best you can do is designate the first extension as the "general mailbox" and make them responsible for its content. Basic mode sucks sorry.

exactly as critchey has stated, best to tell them to dial 0 for a general mailbox

Thanks all! Yes, I am totally aware that Basic mode sucks. I cringe every time I touch it. Not sure why it even exists.

It's possible in Basic Mode. You just have to be very careful... Open the config in standard view and apply VM rights of the users you want to access/view the general mailbox. Recommend using x10 as a timeout in the AA will always go to the first extension in the system ( Device ID 1.)

So that Avaya can charge more money to make the system work like it is supposed to [hairpull2]

Basic has it's place. Mostly Mom and Pop shops, 10 phones or less. We sell over 1,100 basics systems a year. Just a simple partner replacement don't try to do anything more then what the partner would do. Otherwise your in Ess.

Partner mode was introduced in the US because US customers just could not get their heads around the fact that key ystems were obsolete & that modern PABX's could handle all the line selection & call routing without manual intervention.

in the UK (& I believe Europe) we stopped using key systems 20-30 years ago Muppet mode was not needed & not wanted but Avaya introduced it anyway (probably because partner mode in the US was successful)

I doubt that any competent UK or EU installer ever bothers with it as it simply infuriates the customer

The problem is people buy a system with basic, expect it to work exactly like partner and/or want it to do something they need essential edition for then complain.
