I am working with a customer that has a IP Office 500 V2 at 9.0.5, Basic Edition. I've never programmed forwarding on a Basic system before. I've read that I have to set up speed dials, then set a forward button on the phone to point to the speed dial. This extension has remote call forwarding on. The customer wants to have calls coming to his extension forward to his cell phone when he's out of the office. How do I set up a speed dial on Basic mode?

read the help files this is a very basic question

Thank you for your advice. I did think of that, but the instructions were confusing. I am brand new at this so I understand my questions are beginner questions. Should I not ask for help until I'm an expert? I apologize for wasting your time.

Since Basic edition is more similar to a Partner system, most people are not really familiar with its use.

On a Partner system, for Remote Call Forwarding, you enable the feature on an extension by extension basis. You put the outside number that you want to forward to in one of the personal speed dial bins for the extension. The bins are numbered from 80 through 99. Then you forward the extension to the speed dial bin number.

The best resource is the knowledge base, where you can get the user guides even without an SSO. There you will find good instructions for things like how to enter the speed dial number:

To edit your personal speed dials: (1408/1416)
1. Press the Admin soft key on the display.
• If you access phone administration during a call, only the SPEAKER, MUTE and HEADSET buttons still affect the connected call.
2. Use the up or down arrow buttons to scroll to Telephone Programming. Press Select.
3. Use the up or down arrow buttons to scroll the display to Personal Speed Dial. When displayed, press Select.
4. At the Code: prompt enter between 80 and 99 to select the speed dial entry that you want to edit.
5. The current setting of the speed dial entry is displayed.
6. To enter a number press Enter, dial the number and press Enter. To remove the number press Clear.

and how to forward your telephone:

To manually set forwarding: (1408/1416)
1. Press FEATURE 11.
2. Enter the number to which you want to forward calls.
• Exit phone administration by pressing the PHONE button. Alternatively use the Back button to move to another menu.

To manually cancel forwarding: (1408/1416)
1. Press FEATURE 11.
2. Enter you own extension number as the destination.
• Exit phone administration by pressing the PHONE button. Alternatively use the Back button to move to another menu

Thank you so much! My manager/teacher is on vacation this week, so I was really at a loss. The customer didn't want to have to wait until next week. He's a realtor, and really needs to get his calls. I've been trying to talk him into upgrading to Essential, it would be so much easier there. Again thank you so much!
