basic backup problem - scheduled jobs don't stick

logging onto my w2k svr running sql 2k, i right click on the dbase and via all tasks i setup a backup job. if the job runs immediately no prob. if the job has a schedule, it disappears when i leave and go back into the interface to check it....anyone know what's up with that?

I had the same problem sept with dts packages
would work when I ran them but if I shedualed them no luck.
The problem was the sqlserver agent was not running as a domain acount. was set to a local nt account. I changes this in the service managager and works like a charm.
Check event viewer also it should tell you more stuff too
