You can read the Businessobjects getting started. pdf which will be there in the online quides folder
Im afraid the BusinessObjectsGettingStarted.pdf does not have this information... I've been struggling to find such information myself ... If u look at the partners section of the BO site, u can find a diagram from Plumtree which indicates how the Plumtree Gadgets talk to BO, but it also shows a schematic architecture ..
Also look at the DeveloperSDK pdf which shows some schematics for programming the webintelligence product .
Finally, have a look at the deployment PDF which shows something about the repository schematic ..
BO has very poorly organised documents for those looking at things from architecture point of view ..
