Base Product VERITAS 9 and Agents.

Hi all, I have a questions and need advices from all.

Will Base Product VERITAS 9.0 to able to backup Remote Servers using 8.6 Agents?

Or Can 9.0 Agent using in the VERITAS 8.6 Base Product Environment?

Do you mean BE for Windows/NT or BE for Netware?

We use both, and with BE-9 for Netware we had the problem that the remote agent for NT/Win2000-Server did not install. So we installed the remote agent of BE-8.6 for Netware, and it works.

BE 9 for Windows needs the agents for BE-9, those of BE-8.6 don´t work. First of all you have to download the current build for BE-9 including the agents, because the out-of-the-box-version has some problems.

Maybe you will encounter problems when pushing the new agents. Whenever the push installation fails, you may next try to locally run the setup routine out of the temp directory (something like c:\winnt\temp\rant...) on the remote pc where you tried to push the agent.

BE 8.6 RANT agent is not compatible with BE 9.0. The recommended upgraded path is, to uninstall the existing 8.6 RANT, then re-push the 9.0 agent to the client. If the push fails, then I would recommend doing the following steps.

Copy the NTAA directory and its files over to the client,
Launch cmd.exe.
Run the setupaa.cmd that is located in the NTAA directory.
