I have a BCM 400 3.0 and am having the dreaded Base Function Tray capacitor issue. The system is out of warranty. The only replacement I can find is a BCM 3.7 BFT. Would this be compatible? Replies appreciated.

Yes, BFT units are the same. Install your MSC onto the new BFT and you're good to go.

Also, Nortel will replace the BFT for free if you or your vendor open a support case with them.
 
BFT BCM 3.0 with the leaking Capacitors is still under warranty until 12/06. Nortel Clarify Bulletin 2005006002 RMA Program Valid until 12/06. Also theMSC card if it doesn't have the Black wire strap on it. I just replaced 2 BCM BFT's this week.
 
So here is something I think is new...
There was a list of bad BFTs on a previous thread and on the boards I have the bad heat sink/capacitor issue is the problem but the part # I have is NT7B1003-A0899482....

I am also having issues with 3 other BCMs 3.7...where all services (hard drive apps) are crashing...all lights on the front panel continually flash. And sometimes you can reboot but it just fails again...only to get worse...any ideas....I have 3 customers screaming at me... Please help...

the part # NT7B1003-A0899482 is from the mother board itself is ther somewehre else I need to look for a part # ...

White lable on back of BCM, lower right hand side. it lists date of Manf, S/N, part #.
 
Re2: your 3.7 BCMs, check out Nortel Technical Alert 200600627. There was a stop ship issued for issues like this. I found a couple of 400s that Nortel replaced because they were losing customer data base on MSC and whole box seemed to go through power resets. Data base issue might be super cap on MSC, and power resets might be power connector on BFT.

Do you have a copy of the Nortel Technical Alert 200600627.
Also one of the customers seems to have a problem with voicemail boxes being corrupted every time it goes down...
