Hi all,

Having a strange error pop up in the system status for my IP office. It's stating there is a conflict with the an extension. Now, i've gone through and check and i have no base extension conflict between systems, but I have noticed that a couple extensions share the same Extension ID, would these be the cause of the SCN conflicts I'm seeing? if so, can i manually change them (looks like a reboot is required) or do i need to create a brand spanking new extension for the one that is conflicting?

Could be an extension name. You can run monitor and reboot one of the and monitor will tell you what it is, or open Manager in SCN view and you should be able to find it. The extension ID won't cause a problem.

Thanks budbyrd,

still learning about the system. wasn't aware i could open it up that way. Now that I've done that I've found more errors. Most concerning is an SCN link miss match from one location to the remaining 3 sites. Hows your SCN knowledge?

Been setting them up for a decade or so. Never seen an SCN link mismatch unless it is a codec problem or possably a wrong line type. What kind of error is it?

Had that mismatch happen when the system codecs were used for the SCN trunk and they didn't have the first entry the same.
So I guess budbyrd had the right idea that it is a codec mismatch

So I've checked the codec on the VoIP settings tab, all the connections are set as system default.

The error points that the mis match is from only one location to out the other 3. So comparing all the SCN lines, I've come across a few possible issues - but they aren't just for the site with the mismatch. the possible issues are as follows

Allow direct media is not enabled for all lines.
Outgoing group ID is different from site A-B then from Site B-A (believe this should be identical and different from another outgoing group ID)
Line # is also different on a couple - ex site A to b uses line 18 where site b to A uses line 17.

I also see that each location has a line 17, 18 and 19. not sure if that is causing issues as well or not.

Line ID doesn't matter, unless you are routing calls differently than what the IPO would choose, it know where the various systems are and will route accordingly. Direct media path should match, but if it doesn't it will still work. When the codecs are set to 'System Default' it could be the 'Default' settings in the system tab differ from system to system. Usually we lock ours to G.711. What version are you running?? And are all of them the same?

System default has these selected - G.711 ULAW/G7.11 ALAW/G.729(a) 8k CS-ACELP/G.723.1 6K3 MP-MLQ
At the moment, 2 sites are 10.0.4 (one of these is the issue with the SCN Mismatch) 1 is at 10.0.2 and the last is at 9.0.4 but scheduled to be upgraded to 10.0.4 next week.

You might try upgrading to 10.1. They skipped over 10.0 pretty quickly, I assume it had problems. It is a free upgrade if you are licensed for 10.0.

I don't see 10.1 as an upgrade on the system itself or do i need to download a new manager version in order to see that?

Yes, you would need the latest 10.1 SP1. Came out in December.
