Has anyone had experience of the NetBackup Bare Metal Restore functionality on Unix servers. I'd be interested to know of how stable and simple it is to manage.

TIA

TKG's BMR (sold to Veritas in January, I believe) is a very good program for both the Solaris Unix & Windows OSs. My direct experience has been with Solaris 2.8, 2.7 and Windows NT. I have NO direct experience with BMR and AIX. I recommend it.

How easy is it to implement ? How does is handle restoring the bare o/s. If you can summarise what your process for restoring would be for a Solaris 2.8 server, would be appreciated.

colint,

Very Brief overview. Search GOOGLE for more in-depth info.

1. Install BMR Server on a Unix platform

2. Create SRTs for both Unix & NT Servers on Unix BMR Server. Simple but requires time.

3. Create boot disk for NT Servers

4. Test connectivity between server and new Unix / NT System.
