Hi All,

I have excel spread sheet where user can scan the barcode for data entry. instead of have user to use mouse or keycode to save workbook, I would like to use a barcode to act as if user press Ctrl+S which will trigger the saving.

I found a piece of barcode for this purpose from a website. However when I scan this barcode, instead of triggering action of save, it entered $S in the spread sheet. how can I set up my scanner to treat this barcode as keycode action, but not a regular data entry.

Thanks

Can you post a link to the barcode so others can test it?

I would think it's use would depend on the scanner and might require programming (probably in the form of scanning another barcode) to allow the scanner to send a combination of keys simultaneously not just one key after the other as it would ordinarily do when acting as a keyboard.

Hi thevillageinn,

The link is

I can not use the barcode in this document to trigger the ctrl-S combination, however I am able to program the scanner use ASCII code 019 as sufix to trigger the keyboard action. 019 is actually the ASCII code for Ctrl-S.
when scanner send signal to computer, what it is sending. ASCII code or something eles?

Hi nsantin, I do enable Full ASCII through the program barcode.

Ths scanner I am using is Symbol LS 1004

Thanks

I don't know what is sent.

I can't get ctrl-s to key correctly with my LS4004 either.
