I am trying to create bar graphs for publication in a medical Journal. However, when I create graphs, the first number on the vertical axis is -0.0. I do not want to start with a negative number. Also, I want to use whole numbers instead of decimals. Any suggestions? I'm using Illustrator CS2 12.0.1 on Mac OS 10.4.7.

Prehosp - when you're in the area where the data is entered there are 6 little icons in the top right hand corner - the 4th one in lets you format the number to zero decimals.

I don't understand the negative zero. Can you show me what data you're entering? I don't know if it will help but I don't even know where to begin with that.

thanks kim-

i'm still having trouble with the decimals. i changed the decimal places in the box in the right hand corner, but it's still giving me decimals. the data i am using are quite simple. it's below average-3,3,3,3,3; above average 4,4,4,4,4

any suggestions?

Pre - I think that happens because Illustrator is deciding what the scale will be. Try playing with the Graph Type options. If you right click the graph and choose Type... then select Value Axis from the drop-down menu in the top left hand corner and check off Override Calculated Values. Change the min to 0 and change the divisions to control the decimals.

Another way you can do it is to select the Text Tool and manually change the values on the y-axis. This may be a little painful depending on what you're doing.
