Hi mate,

I`ve not got a solution to get rid of the banners but I would advise you to back up your site fully if you even attempt this.

If the host is offering you free space with banners and you remove or alter them then they can legally(And most probably will!!) delete your site.

If you want banner free hosting, get another host!!

Hope this helps

Banner free hosts with short domain names are hard to come by. I &quot;modified&quot; their last banner ad and kept it modified for a year and they never found out.
I just need some kind of counter java tag...
please help?

they only aloud 75kb files on their servers.

my suggestion for that is to find a free host that puts the banner in a frame instead of on your page then just break the frame - i used to do that when i had a site with nbci.com

this is what i used to break their frames:

<script>
<!--
if (top.location!=this.location) {top.location=this.location}
//-->
</script>

simple - but effective.

You might come up with a temporary solution now, but the latest ASP craze are companies that are providing solutions to ISP's to detect / block customers that are trying to block ad banners by scanning the documents on the server.

My suggestion, dig deep and splurge $10+ per month for a host that doesn't display ad banners..

Just my two cents :)

Hi mate,

Who told you that Porltand only allow 75k files?

I have files that are well over 350k and have never had a problem uploading. I have never seen anything saying that there is a file limit and have never had a problem with file sizes.

They may have changed but I have looked and have seen no mention of file size limits. Unless you read this on their site I would suggest that this is wrong.

Hope this helps Wullie

I tried to upload 150kB and a 175kB file via ftp and it truncates the file at 75kB. I dunno, thanks everyone... know any good space providers that I can make accesible to my page viewers?
