Hi!

I´ve a problem with some GB ports on my passport 8600.
When I connect a host, I have a link, but I cannot ping across the network.
When I take the next port, it works perfekt.
The module has 16 ports.

port 1 doesn´t work.
port 2 is OK.
port 3 doesn´t work.
port 4 - 16 is ok.

The settings are the same.

Do you know what I can do?

thanks,
mewi

Dear Mr Mewi,

Well as per the problem description the suggested solution would be :
1.Kindly check the port status in terms of up or down
2.Kindly try to shut down the port 1 and port 3 and make it up.
3.IF Nothing is possible then I am sure that these particular number of ports are physically bad ports wherein only the Nortel Support Engineer would be able to replace it.

thanks for your answers.

I´m now sure that the module must be replaced.

I think maybe some dirty in these bad port, plz check it carefully

YOU MAY WANT TO PUT THE GBIC IN A SOFTWARE LOOPBACK. ALSO, FAST START DOES SOME STRANGE THINGS. YOU MAY WANT TO DISABLE FAST START IF ITS ENABLED. MAKE SURE YOU FIBER IS CLEAN. TRY MOVING THE GBIC INTO A DIFFERENT PORT ON THE BASEBOARD. GOOD LUCK!! CHEERS
