I work with InD CS (WinXP Pro SP2). I put out one catalogue per 2 weeks (approx. 100 images). The problem I have concerns exporting pages to PDF press. Some text elements change position and some images are just missing after export. The original InD document looks OK all the time. This is not the case when I print directly from InD or to PS file or when I export EPS (I can distill it later and still get correct PDF version). This is few more steps and sometimes time is critical and the bottom line is that program shouldn't act like this.

I can only guess that there's something wrong with your istallation of the program as this does not happen normally.

Try making a new pdf export setting - file menu/pdf export/define - that matches the normal Press settings and see if that works. You can also try running off a pdf at one of teh other presets, like print, just to see if that holds the text and pics properly.

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4

Well I tried new PDF settings but no luck also tried reinstaling InD and even wiped out entire HD but still I have same problem.
Bad export is not the case for all documents and not even for all pages in corrupted document.
Has anyone any knowledge of this and how to fix it?

I would take a closer look at the things that are coming out wrong. Is there something they have in common?
- Check all the fonts in your file. Is the text that's changing the same font or is it random? Do you maybe have 2 versions of the same font active by accident? (I've had, for example, Times New Roman active in TrueType and Postscript at the same time and that messes up a lot of things.) Maybe you're trying to make something bold or italic and you don't have the corresponding printer font. Do you have Subset Fonts set to 100% in your pdf definition?
- What about the pictures that are disappearing? Are they all greyscale, or RGB, or tif with LZW compression? I've had an issue in Quark where .jpg files placed under 20% (or so) of the original size come out all screwy when I print to my platesetter. See if there's anything similar with the way the original image files are saved. Try resaving them.
