I am getting a visual and audible alarm.

In looking at the Disk Mirroring I see it says my Mirror disk status is failed.

Is it like any other RAID? Can I just pop in a new drive the same size or larger than the primary and it will format it and re-initialize it?

nope. The software is installed via multitude of image file Linuix partitions on the HDD of the system. The system board itself does not raid per say as your thinking of as a server would and no you can't pop in a new HDD and it will push out the image and re-stripe the drive as it would in a raid 5 such as a server. If the drive is bad you will need to get a 4.0 drive from another BCM and or purchase a FRU multi-image 4.0 drive from a vendor. You will loose all your key-codes but if you work with your vendor they can recover them from KRS but be prepaired to take along time to recover them and re-program if you don't have a backup.

Yes you can. If it is a RAID system you can just pop in a drive (even a used one) and the system will overwrite anything that's on it. just make sure it's the secondary (or mirrored drive).

It's been my experience though that it's more likely to be the raid board that's the issue rather than the drive. The way to test it is to plug each drive directly into the main drive signal cable directly and see if the system will boot from each one without the raid board involved, If ir does. just order another raid kit and replace it. If it won't boot from one of the drives, then consider it messed up and just pop in another one and let it mirror.

As long as you have one good drive, you can do exactly what you described.
