Bad foreign object reference

I received a PDF on a CD to post to our website.

I opened the PDF from the CD and also opened it off of my hard drive after copying it over. Both times it opened just fine.

I FTP'd the pdf to our webserver, like always, and opened the file in IE and Firefox and both give me this error:
Bad foreign object reference

I've FTP'd PDFs to the same server for over a year and never encountered this problem.

any ideas what's causing this and how to fix it?

I tried this same PDF on my home PC. I can't remember if I was using IE or Firefox, but I got a new error message:
Expected a dict object

any clues?

The PDF is corrupt. I can't guess how or why. But if you open the PDF in the full, "professional" version of Acrobat, it should be able to repair the file.
