Well, I have searched far and wide beyond the 10 pages
of google search, yet, EVERY TOPIC STARTED ABOUT THIS
ERROR WAS NEVER RESOLVED.

The error occurs within Winamp, when clicking on a song:
"Bad DirectSound driver. Please install proper drivers or
select another device in configuration. Error code: 88780032"

Funny thing is, that I got Winamp to work before, however,
after trying ot reinstall DirectX and My Soundblaster drivers, it simply wouldn't anymore.

Things I have tried:

-Reinstalling DirectX
-Reinstalling Sound Drivers
-Uninstalling Both Direct X and Sound Drivers
-Reinstalling a fresh new DirectX and Sound Drivers

NONE WORKED. Every Technical support forum I have been to
that had this topic seemed to somehow end, with the user
unable to solve this problem.

PLEASE! PLEASE! Help. I tried everything, and I know that
someone here can find out a solution or has experienced
this problem before.

Remember, I already reinstalled directX, and my drivers.
This has to be some kind of inturreption with the OS Services
and or software with my soundcard.

I disabled all the services (aside from the essentials and
the Windows Sound service).

Scanned for viruses with McAfee and removed all of them.

Anyone?

Thanks.

MICROSOFT IS TAKING OVER MY COMPUTER!

I managed to DELETE ALL the files from the Program Files/Windows Media Player/ folder (except for hte folder itself which seems to be undeleteable). Now when I try to install Windows Media Player 9, it STILL says that there is a "Newer Version of WMP on your computer" (perhaps something in the registery). And even when I try to REINSTALL the beta, it wont let!

NOT EVER DIRECTX, and I changed the driver digital signing
to ignore!

see! what is going on?!

Could it be some kind of virus?

WMP and DirectX are so integrated into XP that they are part and parcel of the entire operating system with Dll files scattered throughout the operating system. A deletion of the files in the program folder does not remove these numerous Dll files.

I have no idea why you are having problems with driving signing if you have removed the option to block.

DirectX has always be a problem uninstalling. Microsoft have no uninstaller for it so I assume you are using some third party tool to remove it.

WMP 10 being Beta, well anything is possible with that.

Why don't you save whatever files you can while you have some access to your machine and reformat it followed by a clean install of XP.

Stay away from Beta programs and just get everything working properly.

HOW TO: Partition and Format a Hard Disk in Windows XP (Q313348)

Read the paragraph,

After the format and re-install, install Recovery Console (as a startup option) before SP2 comes out in a month or two.

Linney, just to make sure, can you give me a direct
link to where I will be told step by step (hopeuflly from
a microsoft page) how to create a partition on a harddrive
that already has data on it, then install window on THAT
partition, and uninstall windows from the former partition
where all the corrupt windows files are.

I still want all of my files, I have 150 GB of them.
I still have a 100 GB of free space.

Is it possible to install windows on a new partition,
and just run windows from there, but without losing
all the files on my CURRENT harddrive, and allowing it
to remain its own partition. At that point, also, will it
e possible to UNINSTALL windows from my former harddrive?

Thanks for all your help linney, this will probably be
my last question. =P
Atleast we tried to fix it.

It sounds like you have a mighty large disk with just the one partition on it, is that so? It would be so much easier if the partitions (or separate drives already existed).

Assuming they don't, you may have to look at what third party software like partition magic can do for you. Mind you with your luck this may not be a good idea.

Doing similar with Windows would mean removing data that you want to save and reformatting to obtain the desired number of partitions.

HOW TO: Create a Multiple-Boot System in Windows XP (Q306559)
How to Multiple Boot Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 98, and MS-DOS (Q217210)

You can't uninstall this Windows, you either delete it via another operating system, reformat it, or ignore it.

Another possibility you could look at, but it is not really recommended is -

You can do the same with XP.

Your questions are always welcomed.
