I have an 81c running 3.0. Monday I came in to work and found core 0 dead due to the CE PWR supply having gone out. I replaced the CE PWR supply and the shelf came back up, but the core didnt. It says I have a single core when I stat cpu in LD 135. The SYS Utility light is red too. I have replaced the cpu, sys utility and cni cards and still the same result. INI or pwr off and on didn't work either. Could this mean my MMDU is bad? Please help.

after the power fail did you try the rdun command prior to hardware swap? turn the cni;s off on that core connect to j25... trouble shoot side 0 as a stand alone.. leave core 1 in maint, until you get zero back up..

OK then how do I send it to VM box or can I. I have an Octel systm, it is bit old, but it still works.

This is what I get when I stat cpu.

.stat cpu

cp 1 16 PASS -- ENBL

SINGLE
DISK STATE = REDUNDANT READY
HEALTH = 24
VERSION = Feb 3 2004, 20:13:08
Side = 1, DRAM SIZE = 256 MBytes

cp 0 16 DSBL: NOT RESPONDING
.stat cni
cni 1 9 0: remote = group 0 ENBL
cni 1 9 1: remote = group 1 ENBL

cni 0 9 0: remote = group 0 ENBL
cni 0 9 1: remote = group 1 ENBL

I did try that and I can't, but I thought that only works with the active core.

If it's in SPLIT it'll act like a normal active processor, if it's not, you won't - for a CP PII or higher you'll get "HIRMxxxx running background diagnostics" or something like that.

Can you hard split it?

Yes I tried that didn't work. What does it mean when the system utility cards light is red?

Yes I did replace the sys ultility card and got the red light.

I was able to split the cores. I cant check the connection to core 0 until I go to the site it is in a PBX about 2 miles away from me.

I discovered after swapping all the cards from core 0 to core 1 that I had the wrong rivision power supply plugged in. It takes a NT6D41CA for the Intel cores and I had put in a NT6D41AA when I replaced it.

Thanks to all for your help
