i am attempting to backup my servers with third party software to a tape drive. it won't backup the ntuser.dat file it says it has a share violation. does anyone have a suggestion to what i can do? what backup software does anybody else use or do you use the backup stuff from NT? thanks for your help!

IMHO you best backup option is Veritas Backup Exec version 8.5 with the open file option. This will handle your backup needs.
