I currently have BackupExecDesktop Pro V.4.5 on Windows 98 se; it is working so,so for my consumer home PC. Occaisionally it doesn't recognize the media (CD)and occaisionaly the CD will not eject, but I manage. I am under the impression that it is no longer supported by Veritas and it has been replaced by BackupMyPc. Will I have more problems or less with BackupMyPc? Has this new software been fairly reliable?

Backup MyPC Version 4.71 eliminates the problems you had
in Desktop Pro 4.5. Have been using 4.61 for months. Have
just recently went to 4.71. We use it to back up are small
single computer customers. Have not encountered any lock
ups, seek errors or other errors that were common on 4.5.
I think you will like it. Only quirk is that CD-RWs must
be formatted under 4.71 to work with it. Keep in mind if
try to use a cd that was used with 4.5 or 4.61. You may
have to format the cds in easy cd creator(or other software)
so that a full format will be done in 4.71.
