Hi!
I would like to use an Ultrium 3580 to make backups for two pseries, but both the system must access it.
Is it possible to connect the tape and the systems with SCSI?

Thanks

hi

what software will you use to backup the data e.g.
tivoli, backup command etc .. ?

It is not important what sw will I use for the backup until the machines do not reach the device.
I don’t know how to connect the device to the machines permanently.
Can anybody help?
Thanks

It isn´t possible to connect them directly. You always need a switch otherwise the machine thinks that it has one big scsi. We have a blackbox switch and we use Apcon to switch the lto-unit.

hi ,
The reason i asked regarding the software you will uses is because if you had tape library your server A where you got your tape drive connected would be the server , server B would be the client and when you set the software up you would have schedules that say , backup these files at this time from this server .

So server B would act as a client
