I have been backing up the company files on to a 4/8Gb Travan tape using a Seagate tape drive for the last year and a half. I have recently being given a message saying there is insufficient space on the tape. The total number of files adds up to 4.2Gb which should easily fit on to the compressed tape. Is there anything I should try to fix this problem or at least find what the is causing the problem.

Cetainly you have tried another tape. Correct? Michael

try reformatting or re commpressing the tape! also check with another disk!!

just out of curiousity are you using seagates software or win2000 to back up your data? well, which ever method you are using, i would investigate the microsoft and seagate websites.
