Running Arcserve 11.5 last few days our nightly backup will not start gives error message to mount blank media or any not belonging to media pool. We are currently using a five day rotation of dlt tapes and have not had a problem up until 2 days ago. Any ideas of what could of happened, our DLT drive seems to be working properly, i'm thinking it is a software setting in Arcserve any suggestions on where to begin? Thanks.

Check the media pool to see if there are any tapes in the scratch set.

Thanks davidmichel there were no tapes assigned in the scratch set or the save set do I assign them to the scratch set.

We are getting error W3831 unable to find media. We are using a 5 day tape rotation with a full backup each night. Before we upgraded to ver 11.5 sp2 we were able to just put the tape in and it would run I am unfamiliar with media pools and so on. If anybody could shed some light on this process it would be greatly appreciated, we have went 3 days with no backup I am starting to get worried.

Thanks..

Ok I was able to get the backup to start, I went and did a quick erase on the tape and started the job. My question is how do I get arcserve to do that automatically?

Thanks for any feedback!!!

The erase only needs to be done one time. After that the tape will be part of the pool and will automatically be reformatted when needed.
