Does NBU support this?
Can you backup SQL transaction logs directly to disk the copy that to tape?
I know competitor product can do this but can NBU?
I have a SQL server that runs hourly transaction logs and that is locking up a drive all day to do it.

I would like to backup the SQL data to disk first then copy to tape
Each phase would have a different retention
Disk would be retained for 14 days then age off
Tape data would have the standard GFS retention.

Thanks,

FRB

set up a disk storag unit and run a daily migration.

Just because the VERITAS documentation states a certain thing does not make it a fact and that is truth.

Does the disk have to be presented as "virtual tape" storage?

Or can NBU tell the difference?

The previous Netbaclup person said "You cant do that... you can only copy to LIKE media"
Is this something new in 6.0?
Copy and Migrate are 2 different things.
I would think that you could migrate from dissimilar media.

The disk staging storage unit is that, a staging storage unit. Once you backup has gone to the DSSU, then you create a schedule to migrate over to. The DSSU will hold the original image until it either needs the space back or until it expires, whichever comes first.
