I would appreciate a script that will backup a database application remotely to client workstation.

I guess they/we would need to know more, like .....

What is the database (Oracle, MS-Sql, MySQL ..etc).
What is your dB Server's OS (Win2K, NT, Solaris, HP-UX, Linux ...).
What is your "client's" OS
Do you want Hot or Cold backups (dB running or off line).

The list goes on.

?

Answers on a postcard please!

This is sybase backedup on the remoteserver(solaris)but the user want a script that would allow them to have the same backup on their local solaris workstation.

FTP the Sybase dumpfile(s) to the local machine?

Allow the local user to mount the remote directory on the local machine?

Greg.

I am sorry. The task is login to this remote sever,cd into directory where the backup script resides, execute it,and scp the log files to a local directory many miles away.
