Backup tape not fully used

I'm using Ultrium LTO1 backup tape to backup the server. It is 100Gb capacity. But I check in the Volumes screen, it show me Written 82Gb and Used FULL. How come?

Look at your log files. NW will set a media to full if it cannot recover from a write error.

I'm sure I'm not using compression to backup my server.
It is so strange because this condition is not occur everyday.

Hi

If your not using compression then the maximum you will get on the tape is 100GB, don't forget also that the amount of data on a tape is dependant on the type of data you are backing up.

for example here at our institute most of our data is already heavily compressed due to data reduction so we would fill an 80gb tape after 45Gb on average.
