backup sharepoint 3.0

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to backup my sharepoint to remove the transaction logs that has been acumulated, and i get "access to table ado.backupset is blocked because the signature is not valid"

When doing backup through the Central Administration Interface fails to backup with no error message that I can see.

Tried searching for this error and I am not getting anywhere.

You should provide us with some extra information. It looks like your environment is instable, but I bet you already made that conclusion.

Was there an upgrade in the past which could cause the signature error? In that case, some .dll files need to be replaced or fixed.
Also, verify if there is any invalid certificate involved.
