Hi,

Our reception hunt group is ext. 4999. Only one user in that hunt group (3333).

But we also have a hunt group called BackReception (4998) and a user called BUReception (4997). I guess it stand for "Back Up Reception".

I found no VoiceMail Pro call flow referencing those hunt group and user. As a matter of fact I can find no reference of them anywhere in the system (except that they are defined in Hunt Groups and in Users).

Any idea what could be the use of those "Backup" hunt group and user ?

They have been created by our service provider, and getting straight answer from then is ... well... hard.

Regards,

Check the Forwarding tab of that BUReception user. It may be a phantom user to forward to a short code (if you have an AA 'backup' the receptionist).

Don't be harsh on your service provider, this maybe setup once on customers request and in a later moment they decided not to use it anymore so any reference to the group/user are deleted except the group/user itself.
I see that a lot in customer configurations and I tend to delete them but not all engineers do so.

Hi,

@JTrom : It is indeed a phantom user with a forward to a short code (the reception voice mail call flow).

I'm afraid I don't understand this sentence : "if you have AA 'backup' the receptionist".

@intrigant : I do try not to be harsh with my service provider. I would gladly have omit that part of my post, but I'm sure someone would have replied : "Ask you provider". I just wanted to clarify that was not an option for me.

I'll probably go ahead and try and delete them, see what happen.

You could check the fallback options of the main huntgroup, maybe it is or was used for nightservice or out of service purposes.

Oooh, just looked for AA in the help. "Auto Attendant".

That is indeed something that was offered by the service provider but we decided not to use it.

I'm more confident that I can delete them now.

Indeed, they are set as overflow for the main hunt group.

I doubt that there's any overflow, but hey it's not a bad thing to have.

Won't delete them after all, and I will add that information to my notes ;-)

Stars to both of you,
