Has anyone else run into any problems running Backup exec 8.5 on Win2k advsrv with an OnStream tape drive. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My backups are not completing, they are ending, saying that i need to put in overwritable media - even though i have checked the option to overwrite all!!!!

move media to the retired media
i think this my help Greg
X-)

I had tremendous problems getting my OnStream drives to work with BE 8.5. I ended up upgrading the firmware on the drives. This fixed all my problems.

The types of problems I saw were:
* Label media errors
* Actually backing up data

Even though you selected the media overwrite setting in options/media tab of Backup Exec (also uncheck prompt before overwriting imported media)
you still need to see the properties of the Media Set and make sure your media is not protected see the media in the media set.
Moving the Media to Scratch media from the media set will help. This just resets the media protection level, it does not erase the tape.
Once the Backup Job grabs that media it will apply the protection level
